31 Days for Crohn's & Colitis UK

Meet Denise

This is Denise, a dedicated member of our the contract support team at the Bristol office. All through January, Denise has been on a mission to raise vital funds for a world free from Crohn's and Colitis. Since January 1st, she’s committed to a regime of 31 minutes of exercise every day, demonstrating her dedication and passion for this cause. Her efforts not only promote awareness and support for the Crohn's & Colitis UK charity in their pursuit of better treatments, but also a kick start towards a huge personal goal of a more active lifestyle.

About Crohn's & Colitis UK

Denise’s motivation stems from a deeply personal journey with her health. For a while now, Denise has been grappling with stomach issues that resulted in her hospitalisation in October 2023, with suspected Colitis. Despite undergoing numerous tests and a colonoscopy, without a definitive diagnosis. The uncertainty has led to the referral to another hospital, and now she anxiously awaits the next appointment date.

During this challenging period, Denise connected with local individuals who suffer from Crohn's and Colitis. Hearing their experiences has been incredibly inspiring and motivating. Their bravery in facing similar struggles has inspired Denise to do this for her own health, as well as something that would contribute to the broader community.

Big Winter Workout 31/31 2025

Denise wanted to raise awareness and support for those navigating these difficult conditions, and participating in the Big Winter Workout is a step towards that goal.

By raising funds with Denise, we aid the charity’s relief to those diagnosed with Crohn's or Colitis, the two main forms of inflammatory bowel disease. Over 500,000 people in the UK are living with a lifelong disease that many people have never heard of. Thousands more people are suffering in silence. But with Crohn's & Colitis UK, they’re not alone. Your donation - no matter how big or small, will support a world free from Crohn's and Colitis.

Keep the support coming for Crohn's & Colitis UK and make a difference together.

Facing Challenges

Denise’s participation in Race for Life years ago, shows that she has the determination and resilience to take on challenges like this, however she now suffers from osteoarthritis, and cannot be as active as she would like. Embarking on this exercise challenge was a conscious decision to help towards her fitness and weight goals.

While Denise may not consider herself an active person, this January challenge has been an empowering way to kick start her fitness journey, 31 minutes per day is a manageable commitment that can seamlessly fit into her daily routine. Building strength, whilst improving her overall health, will significantly contribute towards her recovery and mobility post-surgery. All of which, also means she can engage more actively with her young grandchildren and create lasting memories! This Big Winter Workout was the crucial first step towards that vision.

“I’m so grateful to JCW for their donation and also for spreading awareness of these awful conditions.“

-Denise
