JCW Healthy & Safety
Health And Safety
The Safety of our Employees and clients are imperative to our everyday operations. JCW provide statutory compliance services to many of our planned maintenance clients, and so we understand the importance of Health and Safety. When our engineers “make safe” clients’ premises, they are indirectly guaranteeing the safety and well-being of everyone in and out these premises which includes our clients’ clients.
JCW’s management focus on developing employees’ awareness of Health and Safety with regular update training sessions, our managers are also responsible for issuing improvement advice for the failures as well as for recognising the excellent track record in H&S performance.
Keeping up to date
JCW Energy Services take a proactive approach to health and safety, keeping fully up-to-date with legislation changes and any developmental training required. As well as the annual companywide meeting, individual engineer meetings are also held by our H&S Manager regularly, with the intention to Encourage, Educate and Acknowledge best practices and performances in Health and Safety throughout our organisation.
Our SafeContractor status and Altius accreditation are annually reviewed and are proof of our outstanding safe methodologies within the building services industry. By passing these rigorous independent assessments and accreditation processes, JCW hope to also reduce the time buyers spend in evaluating our procedures.
Excellence in management and supervision
Accidents do happen, therefore JCW management set clear, realistic and measurable health and safety targets, for example in the past 12 month we have achieved a reduction in reportable and non-reportable incidents by 30% from the previous year, and we are continuously working to better this each year. Our Directors and Managers also support a culture where engineers feel able to refuse to do work they consider unsafe. We have communication and consultation arrangements in place for employees who wish to raise health and safety concerns, where they are encouraged to share and discuss issues openly with our management as their views are valued.
Taking road safety seriously
On average our mobile engineers spend around 25% of their time on the road, last year we travelled an approximate total of 3,630,000 miles, so road safety awareness is imperative. Although road accidents cannot be avoided completely, our culture is to ensure that all employees take road safety seriously, and take care of their vehicles as if they were their family cars. When something is considered your own, you take more responsibility. Trackers are fitted to most of our operational vehicles so safety and speed of travel can be monitored and recorded.
Recognition
Continuing Professional Development of our staff is important at JCW, we recognise the good practices taken towards safety at work, we incentivise those who go above and beyond to ensure no safety measures are taken for granted, through this, we hope to motivate employees companywide in following by example.
