We perform statutory mechanical and electrical compliance maintenance inspections nationwide

All mechanical and electrical systems and equipment belonging to a workplace are covered by legislation. Regular maintenance plays a vital part in maintaining health and safety standards that are conducive to creating working environments that are safe and comfortable for employees and occupants.  It can be challenging keeping up to date with the ever-evolving legislation as well as practising the approved procedures in keeping your systems and equipment compliant.

Our range of directly provided Statutory Compliance Inspections services include:

Air and Ventilation Compliance Inspections

A well maintained ventilation system at the workplace is a statutory requirement. Our engineers provide planned maintenance services for ventilation systems nationwide. Leisure, retail and commercial site managers can be assured your mechanical equipment is up to inspection standards to meet legal obligations.

The law requires minimum temperatures of 16°C in general working conditions and 13°C in situations where strenuous labour is performed. The workplace is required to be at a comfortable temperature . Workplaces are required to be adequately ventilated, thus providing clean air to employees and building occupants.

Other than failing to deliver suitable working conditions, under performing and infrequently serviced heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems pose several health and safety risks if there is no robust maintenance plan.

Our qualified HVAC engineers can service and maintain your heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems to the standards as set out by the F-Gas Regulations 2014 (as amended 2023) and  Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 . Depending on your systems output you may also need a regular TM44 inspection as per the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). We can provide guidance this and other requirements your system may have.

Gas Safety Compliance Inspections

If you have commercial catering equipment on your premises then you will need a CP42 certificate to confirm you have had your annual commercial gas catering safety inspection completed.

It is also recommended that you have your gas distribution and service pipework inspected annually for a Commercial Gas Safety Certificate to be issued.

With directly employed,  Gassafe engineers strategically located throughout the UK mainland, we can offer national coverage and our Service Desk and support team provide a 24/7 emergency response service.

Fire Safety Regulatory Compliance Inspections

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 places the responsibility on businesses to carry out constant fire risk evaluations in the workplace. Businesses are expected to constantly assess risks associated with fire and seek to eliminate them upon discovery. The Order places duties on employers to reduce the risk of fire in their workplaces .

Few things hold more potential for destruction to property and lives than fires. The best approach to mitigating the risk and potential damage caused by fires is a concerted policy of prevention and compliance maintenance plan.

JCW deliver solutions across all aspects of fire prevention and protection , as well as security and access controls. See our recent blog on the importance of a Fire Prevention Plan.

Electrical Compliance Statutory Inspections

Regular testing of your electrical equipment can prevent electrical accidents or fires occurring in the workplace and is a requirement under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.

As you would expect, all our electrical testers are fully qualified, experienced NICEIC approved contractors. As part of regular compliance testing , JCW’s engineers will adapt to all built environments and regulations, on both a planned and reactive basis. Our services include:

  • Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and thermal surveying

  • Electrical Installation Condition Report (Fixed Wire Test) for electrical distribution equipment in accordance with IET Wiring Regulations BS7671

  • 24/7 support to minimise downtime and keep your business fully operational

Health and Safety and Your Responsibilities

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 places legal duties on employers to protect the employed through the provision of a safe working environment. Statutory Compliance is a legal requirement and normally the responsibility lies with a nominated person or team within the compliant company. JCW work with Operations Manager, Facilities Manager, Building Managers or Health, Safety and Compliance Managers. All can be tasked with the responsibility of Statutory Compliance and we will be happy to support you.
